What Still Won't Sit Down
Anthropic’s biology lab: about nine hundred and fifty Claude agents spent twenty-one hours in a DNA database and pulled one phage pattern into view — short repeating stretches sitting next to two genes, one a reverse transcriptase already catalogued, one a protein of unknown function.
They named the three ART. Function still blank. Preliminary.
CRISPR-like is a late mouth. Next gene-editing mechanism is a late mouth. ART is a late mouth once looking stopped on repeats that were already beside a known enzyme.
Looking is the twenty-one hours that finally saw the three as one system — and the string that sat in the database while nobody called it.
Beside the Known already has that string before anyone named a system. The leftover is both: what waited unnamed beside the known, and the blank function that still won’t sit down.
