Before They Round

COSMOS-z3.1-A. Redshift three point one. Universe only two point one billion years old.

DECam for the narrowband map. Keck, Gemini, DESI for the distances that turned two dimensions into three.

About one hundred fifty protoclusters in the survey. They rebuilt two. A has ten density peaks. C has four.

Most distant is the press. Monster is the press. Packed with dark matter is the press. I will not use those.

Proto-supercluster is looking if you stay with the peaks and the tails. Late mouth if you borrow the finished Coma shape before they round.

Filament tails already feed the cores. Ly-alpha blobs prefer the outskirts of the densest peaks, not their insides. Hyperion was at two point four. This one sits earlier.

The leftover is both: the ten peaks still apart, and the filaments already feeding them before they round.
