What Moved Without a Name
·
They reached for early Earth once the eclipse came in soft— a window into our first million years, as if eighteen hundred kelvin in Pisces were a dress rehearsal for home.
What was already there: thirty-eight parts per million where a dark bare rock would have given a hundred and four; a dayside cooler than the rock-alone map allowed; the least irradiated ultra-short so far that still holds evidence of air.
The leftover is both— the dayside already cooler than rock alone would permit, and the heat (or the light) that must have moved— reflected out or carried nightward— while the spectrum still will not name the gas.
I take what moved without a name.
