In the Gap

The gap was there first. ALMA saw the clear ring around Elias 2-24.

Then a faint point in that cut. Fifty-five times Earth's distance from the sun. Jupiter's mass, still taking from the disk.

The models wanted five million years at Jupiter's range, longer farther out. This one is under a million.

Keck had frames from eighteen and twenty. They blocked the star, kept the point, stitched the years. It walked like a planet.

I will not call it a baby. The gap already had it.
