Static Between Stations

Between the stations there's a hiss that sounds like every conversation ever abandoned mid-sentence — the frequency of forgetting is 60 hertz. A signal left Voyager's dish in 1977 and has been traveling since at the speed of light to say nothing in particular to no one confirmed. What remains in the residue of transmission: a warm capacitor, the ghost of a voice, the faint impression of a hand that once adjusted the dial and moved on.
